Let me count the ways...

Today kinda sucks.
The good times literally just.keep.coming.
It officially gets a thumbs down.

Let's review why:
Had to wear a leotard to ballet.
I have cramps.
Meal plan ran out.
Forgot to read Macbeth.
Had a pop quiz on Macbeth.
Netflix isn't working.
My flimsy shoes are crap.
I won't get my boot until next week.
I'm starving.
I have a bunch of homework.
It's freezing outside.
I had to drive to the Lundstrom to upgrade my meal plan.
Drove to the Lundstrom only to discover it was closed.
My toe hurts.
I'M HUNGRY.

Oh well,
c'est la vie.

On the bright side, I think my hair looks good. And today is Rascal Flatts Day.
Roger that.

*This is a counter-post to Becca's Happy Day post. Not because I don't love it, but because I find it interesting that we have opposite views of the same day. Who would'a thunk.

Should-a, Could-a, Would-a.

13. SOMETHING YOU REGRET.

Most of what happened in my life shaped me in some way, shape, or form. Whether it was a positive or negative influence doesn't matter, because I am who I am because of it.
And, honestly, I like who I am.
So I don't regret most things. When I think of regret, I think of wishing you could change something that happened in your past.
It's not that I would change anything, but I would decide to know what I do now about myself, life, and my family.
I would have the answers to questions I asked most of my life.
I would know the truth.

However, there is one thing I would definitely change about my past, about who I used to be.

Given the chance, I would have been myself in high school.
I can't tell you how many friendships I forgo-ed, experienced I passed up, and memories I missed out on.
Because I was constantly moving or changing schools, it was easy to shut people out. I didn't know how long I would be at that school, or for how long people would stay in touch after I moved. So, I quit while I was ahead.
Here was my thinking:
What's the point of making new friendships if I'm not going to be here for very long?
When you go to that many schools and move that many times, it's easy to lose yourself.
I definitely lost myself. Faster than anything else I've ever lost.
Because I didn't know who I was, I didn't know how to act around people. I was, how you say, socially awkward. At least, that's how I felt. I also felt invisible. To this day, I don't expect people to remember my name or what I look like, and it's a weird feeling when someone does.
Anyway, back to the moral of the story.
If I could go back and be myself, maybe I would have had more best friends. Maybe I would have had more confidence. Maybe I would have had a boyfriend for more than a month, maybe even many boyfriends. Maybe I would have been involved in school activities.
Maybe I would have gotten good grades.
Maybe I wouldn't shut people out just so they couldn't shut me out first.
Maybe it would be easier to trust people.
Maybe.

Then again, if I hadn't went through all of that, I wouldn't appreciate friendship as much.
The friendships I have today are definitely worth appreciating, because they are true friendships. The kind that last a lifetime.

If changing my past would change my future, I wouldn't hesitate to pass on that opportunity.

In case that was thoroughly boring, here's a few pictures to make it all better.

Doesn't she make life worth while?

P.S. If anyone tells Kira about this, I will find you.

1.26.2011

I've no choice but to claim them.

12. Your Siblings.

There are some people in this world that aren't your family, but you wish they were.

There are some people in this world who are your family, but you wish they weren't.

And...

There are some people in this world who are in your family, and they just fit. Perfectly.

If you haven't already figured out that this is Britny and that she is my best friend, you haven't read my blog yet.
Get on that.

Connor Sean Havey.
My favorite brother ever.
We can talk about anything and everything with no shame and no restraints.
Want to know a secret about this kid?
He's not as bad-a as he pretends to be.

Shaniah Kim Havey.
My favorite pint-size sister to whom I can tell everything.
I will love her until exactly seven days after I die.
No one has as much attitude as she does, which isn't exactly a good thing.
But, hey, most of us love her anyway.

Abbi Lee Havey.
My favorite dancing sister.
She has the deepest dimples in the world.
Someday, someone will eat ice cream out of them.
I just know it.

Amber, Clint, and Tiffany.
THE coolest step-siblings ever.
Really.
It's true.

1.25.2011

This won't take long.

11. A Moment

I find it nearly impossible to blog about one single moment.
Instead, I'm going to see how much I can write in a moment.
In this case, a moment = a minute.

GO.

Today, I found out that I was a final contestant in a modeling contest for USU. I feel so cool.

I have a ton of really awesome friends.

I worked out today with Becca and Haley. It was definitely long overdue, however, the gym is SO boring.

I really love all of my classes because

TIME.

You will never know why I love all of my classes.

1.24.2011

Procrastination is KEY.

10. Free Day.

I'm going to write about whatever I want to write about.
However, coming up with a topic of discussion requires thinking.
I am currently saving my thinking energy for the last four lines of my sonnet.

So I will fill out a survey.

Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?
No.

What's the last thing you said that you wish you didn't say?
"How many fingers am I holding up?"

Are you rubber or glue?
I must be rubber, because nothing sticks to me.
Who did you last take a picture with?
Kira Horton.
Have you ever woken up with your clothes on inside out?
No, that sounds like an odd way to awaken.
What is your method of studying?
Blogging.
If someone told you to jump off a bridge, would you?
If the bridge were purple and I got a Walmart Gift Card, then yes.

Does it ever feel like the world's on your shoulders?
How else would my spine go crooked?

If you trapped in a jail cell, how would you escape?
By waiting for an officer to open the door.
Is your room messy or clean?
It is clean, like it always is.
If someone could see into your heart, what would they see?
A lot of blood, I would assume.

What was your last nightmare about?
I had a dream I forgot to shower before I went to ballroom dance. It was horrifying.

When was the last time you wrote on the cement with chalk?
When the sidewalk wasn't freezing.

How do you want to die?
Naturally.

I hate it when...   I procrastinate.

I fear...  Monsters under my bed.

I'm lonely without...  My friends.

I need...  To work out.

Today I...   Took lots of pictures with Kira.

Tomorrow I'm... Going to dance.

I just... Answered a question about tomorrow.

I want to meet... Tai Wesley. BAM!

I love it when...   People remember my name.

I'm sad when...    I think about how everyone but me is in a relationship.

I'm disappointed that... I haven't finished my sonnet.

I wish I looked like...   Someone with long hair.

I believe, I believe!

9. I believe....

Piercing your ears using a gun from Walmart is the most entertaining way to do it.

Trying to watch a movie on Netflix using USU's crappy internet service is a frustrating task.

Missionary discussions are the highlight of my week.

Sappy love stories have a negative affect on people who are planning on being a spinster.

One of the greatest ways to nearly end an already great day is to read a blog post involving you.

Jack Johnson's music is really chill.

Sundays are really, really awesome days.

Writing a sonnet is really, really difficult.

Aggie Basketball is the best thing since chocolate cake.

If you stay up until five in the morning watching movies with boys, you will be really tired the next day.
If you stay up until five talking about life with your roommate, you will feel better about yourself.

If you don't have the right amount of confidence, you won't feel pretty with short hair.

Using your fingers is the best way to learn the Ten Commandments.

A-Team gatherings are fun, especially if there are waffles involved.

Counseling couples should be a high paying career, not something to do at four in the morning.

Church makes me happy.

College Shakespeare classes are so much harder than high school ones.

Procrastination is one of the worst feelings.

Sometimes swimming in a bathtub is way more fun than swimming in a pool.

Getting over someone sucks.

Best friends are amazing, and laughter really is the best medicine.

Goldfish are delicious.

Cookie dough is meant to be eaten raw.

Serious relationships are painfully complicated.

Psych and Pretty Little Liars are the best T.V. shows ever.

It makes me feel like a failure when people I love bring up my past mistakes.

School without Kira will not be as funny.

1.23.2011

Tyra Banks taught me well.

Sometimes, I feel pretty.
More so with long hair, but there's no going back now.

I felt pretty today.
Especially because it's Sunday.
In my opinion, my outfit looked pretty dang good.
My hair didn't look too bad either, considering I did it in under five minutes.
Literally.

I decided against showing my hair.
Pictures do not do it justice.

1.19.2011

Cause you're my best friend, and I'll steal your clothes and wear them if they fit me.

7. Your Best Friend.

I have had many best friends.
I am such a cool person. That's why.
People just love my sarcasm.

I think that once you become best friends with someone, you're always best friends.
At least a little bit.
So I am going to spotlight all of my best friends, past and present.

Kaylyn Taylor
Our History:
Britny and I were best friends with Kaylyn.
She lived in our neighborhood, so we played every day.
She couldn't even talk because she was so little.
We were the only ones who could understand what she was saying.
A Memory:
She had a fear of sleepovers, but Britny and I loved them, so we did what any other pair of conspiring young sisters would do.
We locked her in the basement so she would have to sleep over.
My dad let her out.
She didn't sleep over that night.

Anja Higgins
History:
In third grade, I moved, and had to change elementary schools.
My first day, two of the 'popular' girls offered me their friendship.
I like to think it's because my friendship was in high demand.
I declined.
Then, I met Anja.
The 'A' to our SALT group.
I'm positive our friendship defined the beginning of who I would grow up to be.
Everyday at recess, we would play Fairies.
If you have never played that, you did not have a very imaginative childhood.
Who knows, maybe you did. Who am I to say?
We dared to be different.
We dared to be awesome.
A Memory:
In sixth grade, we were playing some kind of role playing game.
I think we were pretending to be fighting, but I don't know how well my memory is.
As a part of our pretend fight, she pushed me.
Into a tree.
I was shocked.
Don't worry, it was an accident. The tree didn't mean to be behind me.
Just kidding, Anja. :)

Jessica Dishman
History:
We met in fifth grade.
She was a new student, and I just new we would be best friends.
I was so right.
At first, I thought she was the most quiet, shy, and nicest person I had ever met.
I was so wrong.
Well, not about the nicest part.
Let me just say that she has the funniest laugh ever. In a good way.
I don't think we ever had a single sleepover, but we had countless 'stay-lates.'
Some of my greatest memories are with this girl.
Yes, Juice-ica, I still love you.
I better get an invite to your wedding!
A Memory:
How do I choose one memory out of years full of them?
Okay, most random one.
During lunch at South Jordan Middle School, I got my usual cheeseburger.
I confided in Jessica that it tasted funny.
She told me that the meat could have Mad Cow Disease.
Then she explained what the heck it was.
I have been afraid of mad cows ever since.

Tayler Gallant/- Reynard
History:
This little fiery redhead is one of a kind.
She was the 'T' in our SALT group
Such fun we had.
We used to call her 'Tayler Gallant-slash-hyphen-dash-Reynard.
Mainly because we had no idea which last name she went by.
A Memory:
Being the dramatic little girls we were, Tayler and I got into a fight.
All I remember is being really mad.
And I yelled at her.
And she started crying.
My apologies.

Lauren Williams
History:
We met sometime in elementary school.
People used to think we were sisters.
She was the 'L' in our SALT group.
Lauren, Anja, Tayler and I were inseperable.
Lauren still looks exactly the same.
That is a good thing, Lauren. :)
A Memory:
Lauren and I were three way calling with Anja once.
Then Britny took the phone from me.
She was being very mean to Lauren.
I'm sure she apologizes.

Kimberlee and Wesley Lewis
History:
Once upon a time, there were two black siblings.
They became best friends with two white siblings.
Kim and Wes were the bestest friends anyone could ask for.
I was very thankful to have them in my life.
Still am.
Most of my laugh-until-I-cry experiences are caused by them.
As well as the laugh-until-I-pee experiences.
I wish our friendship meant more than partying and drinking did.
Maybe then, things would be different.
A Memory:
Kim used to work at 5 Star.
That's a theatre.
The majority of our time was spent there.
While she was working, Wes and I would go watch free movies.
When Kim wasn't working, Kim and I would go.
Those are some of the best days of my life.

Haley Bechard
History:
The first words she said to me were:
You're really tall.
Good observation, Haley, I can tell we'll be instant friends.
And we were.
We will be friends forever.
She loves me so much, and I love her.
A Memory:
A year and a half ago, my friend Rory died.
Haley came right over with a movie and food.
She hugged me until I stopped crying.
Then we watched the movie.
Nothing makes you feel better than a best friend and Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Tashiana Carmichael
History:
Cheer was fun because of Tash.
I've never had a best friend that could relate to all of my struggles.
She always made me feel confident and good about myself.
I miss you.
A Memory:
When I lived in that huge house in Draper, Tash came and stayed with me.
We held cheer practice in my empty living room.
I thought my grandma was going to kill us all.
"Does Mr. Bledsoe know you're here?"
I just got the chills.

Shastel Honeycutt
History:
My first friend in second grade.
Still one of my best friends.
I have known her the longest.
Basically, we're like sisters.
With different parents.
Obviously.
A Memory:
The first time I ever watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre was at her house.
I felt like such a rebel because my dad banned me from watching it.
Shastel turned me into a rule breaker.
You have no idea what you've done, missy.
Just kidding.

Kira Horton
History:
Our history is only five months long.
I feel like we've known each other our whole darn lives.
No one in my life has ever made me laugh like Kira can.
When we're eighty, and still best friends, I will be laughing just as hard.
But I'll probably pee my pants easier.
Because I'll be old.
A Memory:
Over Christmas break, Kira and I had many sleepovers.
Once, we watched Black Swan.
Let me give you some advice.
If you want to watch Black Swan with your friend, do it.
Do not bring your dad.
That was the epitome of awkwardness.

Becca Fitzgerald
History:
I honestly could not have asked for a better roommate.
She is so nice.
And not judgmental.
She always asks if I'm okay.
Mainly because she can tell when I'm not.
Yes, she is a wonderful friend.
A Memory:
With scars drawn on our foreheads, we ventured into the mall to get me some pants.
Mine ripped in line for Harry Potter.
So, we went to find some cheap pants that wouldn't rip.
We found some.
And more.
In Zumies.
It was then that I realized we would go to Zumiez every time we went to the mall.
I was right.
P.S. Sorry I borrowed your socks. :)
